How many sirens are there?
When are the sirens tested?
The sirens are checked for proper operation on the first Tuesday of every month.
I don't think a siren near my home works, what should I do?
Contact the ESDA Coordinator at 309-852-2611 ext 267. Be sure to leave your name, address and phone number along with the siren location.
The sirens are not very loud when I'm inside my house, why?
Remember, the sirens are OUTDOOR warning sirens they are designed to warn people who are outdoors of potential severe weather.
If I can't hear the sirens from inside my house what should I do?
Most importantly you should have a NOAA weather radio with battery back-up. Most NOAA weather radios will alarm just like a smoke detector when there is a severe weather watch or warning. You should also listen to local radio and/or TV broadcasts for information.
