The Kewanee Police Department is a participating agency in the Henry County Special Operations Squad (S.O.S). Specially trained and selected officers from the Kewanee Police Department, along with officers from Henry County Sheriff’s Department and other Henry County based law enforcment agencies combine to create the S.O.S. The mission of the S.O.S. is to support Henry County agencies with a tactical response to critical incidents such as armed/suicidal subject(s), barricaded subject(s), high-risk warrant service, and hostage situations. The S.O.S. will attempt to use tactics and contingency planning to have options in place to achieve a successful resolution to any situation they are tasked with. The S.O.S. members train twice a month and are equipped with specialized weapons and gear.
