Q: How many sirens are there?

A: Six

Q: When are the sirens tested?

A: The sirens are checked for proper operation on the first Tuesday of every month.

Q: I don't think a siren near my home works, what should I do?

A: Contact the ESDA Coordinator at 309-853-1911 ext 267. Be sure to leave your name, address and phone number along with the siren location.

Q: The sirens are not very loud when I'm inside my house, why?

A: Remember, the sirens are OUTDOOR warning sirens they are designed to warn people who are outdoors of potential severe weather.

Q: If I can't hear the sirens from inside my house what should I do?

A: Most importantly you should have a NOAA weather radio with battery back-up. Most NOAA weather radios will alarm just like a smoke detector when there is a severe weather watch or warning. You should also listen to local radio and/or TV broadcasts for information.
