Water Shut Off & Boil Order (Updated 8/14/19)
The City of Kewanee Water Department has scheduled several hydrant repairs this week, beginning Friday 8/16/19, and continuing Monday 8/19/19 and Tuesday 8/20/19 (weather permitting).  Work will start each day at 7:00 a.m. and will be back on by the afternoon.  The following areas will have water shut off while the repairs are made.

Friday 8/16/19, Monday 8/19/19 and Tuesday 8/20/19:
  • 902 N East Street
  • 900 block of Simpson Avenue
  • 900, 905, 906 & 907 Wilbur Street
  • 900 - 1000 blocks of East 9th Street
  • 901, 907, 910 & 912 May Street
  • 1006 & 1007 Marion Street
  • The fire line to American Steel

These areas were originally scheduled to begin on Wednesday 8/14/19 throughout the end of the week.  This project has been postponed and will be started on Friday 8/16/19 and worked on through the beginning of the following week.

Residents whose water is off during these repairs will be under a boil order for 48 – 72 hours following the restoration of water service.

Residents in these areas may experience low pressure, rusty water, or no water.  If the water has been turned off, take precautions when using water until the water runs clean.  Only flush the system by running cold water, running hot water may draw rust into the water heater.
